About Kumbh
The cause of the Kumbh is very old and goes back to the time when kalasha was recovered from samudramanthan. This is war between Gods (Devtas) and Demons(Asuras). The amrita kalasha forcibly taken by the Asuras. Asuras were much powerful than the Devtas. So the four Devates (Brahaspati, Surya, Chandra and Shani) ran away with the Amrita kalash to hide if from the Asuras. 12 day and night devtas and Asuras went round the earth. Devtas put Antita kalash at Haridwar , Prayag, Ujjain and Nasik
So Hundu devotee celebrates this holy event every 12 year. According to other legends, real fight for the Amrita.
The Religious Importance
The Kumba mela is very important for the Hundus. At every kumbh occasion, millions of hindus take part in the celebrations. During 2004, More than 10 millions devotees take at holy bath in Haridwar during khumb. Yogis, saints, and priests from all area of India, assemble to join in Kumbh. Haridwar is considered very holy, due to the fact that Ganga enter plains from mountains here itself.
Different types of saints come from across the India. The Naga Baba are one of them. They never wear ay cloth and smeared in ash. In the hundu dharm the naga baba are placed in higher place rather than other saint. They have long hairs and are not affected by the any extremes of Cold and heat.
